Tuesday 13 Oct

Today was the day of the "walk with pack." Just up the coast a bit - about 10km in a straight line. It had rained the previous night and was overcast and cool in the morning. The trek started with a trip down the Pieman in the tinny to the heads - drop off a few hundred meters before the mouth of the river.

This log and rock outcrop were at a point 20mins from drop off where the first tinny load waited for the second. An expanse of pebbly beach.

The walk was OK. Until I hit a creek about an hour from the end. It had been raining on and off all day and the tracks were muddy and badly damaged by quad bikes etc. Half way across the creek the knee decided it wanted a rest and down I went, pack and all. The water was cold. With the assistance of Grant I eventually got out, very wet in places, the inside of the wet weather gear as wet as the outside. Knee had thought better of it and performed perfectly for the rest of the trek. But I wasn't in the mood for much photography.
